This was originally written for the Assassin Fantastic anthology edited by Alexander Potter & Martin H. Greenberg, and published by DAW books. It takes place in an interlude of quiet during Sea of Sorrows, and reveals some elements of his early days with the Brotherhood.

This was originally written for a theme anthology titled Christmas Bestiary. It was actually the first short story I sold, and only the third I attempted to write, because the actual third attempted became the Books of the Sundered.
