I have a new web-site!

I have a new web-site (and a new blog, although I think I’ve imported almost everything from this one). The URL, which is imbedded above is: http://michellesagara.com.

I will be blogging there in future. Go and take a look :).

Your new site looks wonderful! I especially like how you can easily find your different series and search through them. Looks classy! :)

It looks great, but some quick feedback:

The mouseovers for your “bibliography” and “about the author”, which involve drop down menus, are terribly finicky in both Chrome and IE. They work if you actually click on the section and then mouse over for a subsection, however. I haven’t a clue what’s going on because IE seems a bit more forgiving with cursor placement, but sometimes works and sometimes does not. I haven’t tested it with Firefox, Safari, or Opera.

The search algorithm seems less than ideal. I searched for things a new or returning reader might look for, e.g. Skirmish, War, Peril, Silence (all of your newer book titles). And it seems as if it’s ignoring italicized words, or just not picking them up at all. Your web dev/guru should be able to adjust the search filter so it starts picking up more pertinent results. Or, maybe the blog posts were added after the most recent indexing and they’ll eventually show up.

Still, the site is quite elegant and makes great use of white space. Very professional.

I like the new site. It’s very clean looking, and I especially like the books at the bottom that link to the various series you have.

Maybe you could add a small section somewhere that just lists the estimated publishing dates for your next round of books? Deadlines change, but it’d be great to have a quick way to update ourselves when the books are coming out, and you can always couch it with a disclaimer “Not a firm/foolproof date; only an estimate as of XMonth, 20XX” (and we’d know how old the post was too, so no problem if you don’t update all the time). I know I’m always trying to find out when the next books are coming, and even jumping around the site, the info can be hard to locate. Knowing there is no set publishing date is still valuable information. If you wanted to go REALLY crazy with it you could even say “Writing stage” “Editing stage” etc.

If you decide to, I’d suggest one section on the front or news section that would list dates for all the books in progress, which would be great for continuing readers of multiple series, and alert new readers to additional new works. You could hyperlink to the series’ page, or put the list by the books at the bottom and we’d route ourselves. Similarly, you can add a hyperlink to the update section in each individual series. After the initial link setup, you’d then only have to update one section, and it would probably be more manageable over time.

I always get extra fired up about your books when I visit the website, and am constantly looking for updates on the publishing dates. =P

I love your books I really do. They great books. But why musht publish under so many diffect last names. I knwo one is your maiden and one is your husbands last name and sometimes you combine them…It sometime makes it hard to find stuff by you. People don’t put you into there data base linking your several different last names. So, I feel like I missing stuff because I don’t know which to look at or just look at all three but still it would be nice if your body of work was under one last name.
